ORAL PRESENTATION

CHILD LABOUR

I chose this subject because it is very unfair. Children are obligated to work, and they lose there infancy.I will speak about these topics:

Employment of children
Child labour refers to the employment of children at regular and substained labour. This practice is considered exploitative by many international organizations and is illegal in many countries.
Child labour was utilized to varying extend through most history, but entered public dispute with the beginning of universal schooling, with change in working condicions during the industrialization, and with the emergence of the concepts of workers’ and children.

Children’s rights
• In the 19th century in Britain, the first laws against child labour appeared. - younger than nine were not allowed to work. - younger than 18 could work a maximum of 12 hours.
• In article 32 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child say that:Although globally there is an estimated 250 milllion children working.

Stadistics
Child labour is still widely used today in many countries, including India and Bangladesh. They estimate that there are between 70 and 80 million child labourers in India.Child labour happens for 61% in Asia, 32% in Africa, and 7% in Latin America, 1% in US, Canada, Europe and other wealthy nations. In Asia, 22% of the workforce is children. In Latin America, 17% of the workforce is children. The proportion of child laborers varies a lot among countries and even regions inside those countries.

They receive a minimal pay
- In India and Bangladesh there are a lot of children working, their laws say that no child under the age of 16 may work, but they are often ignored.
- Children work 20 hours a day and get pay 1 cent per item produced for American companies. Children are cheaper to hire than adults. An example is the GAP company, this system accepted the children for working in their procucts. This company recognized that they utilized the child labours working in production of gap kids blouses and has already made a system to pull the products from the self.

Kinds of jobs
Works that they realize, like prostitution,...Causes Poor families often rely on the labours of their children for survival, and sometimes it is their only source of income.
